Earthquakes, Hurricanes and Layouts, Oh My!

Where were you when the earthquake hit Virginia?  Could you feel it where you were?  We felt it here in NYC!  It was unnerving to say the least because I really didn’t know what was happening.  I suspected an earthquake, but having never felt one before, I wasn’t sure.

And now, we are in the path of Irene!  I’ll be spending time today and tomorrow getting things off the dungeon floor that I don’t want ruined in case we take on water.  We don’t usually have a wet basement, but then I’ve never lived here when we’ve had a hurricane hit.  The weathermen are telling us to expect 5-12 inches of rain in about a 24 hr. period.  That’s a lot of water!  I’m just hoping that our roof is up to this.  We lost a couple of shingles in the last really bad storm we had and it was nothing to what is expected this weekend.  Church will most likely be cancelled on Sunday – nobody wants to walk to church in the rain and I don’t even want to drive in it!  This has been one crazy week in the NE!

During all that, I finally got some scrapping done for my CT duties for MagsGraphics.  I took the month of July off and finally got around to this month’s scrapping.  I wanted to get some of my July 4th pics scrapped, so I chose her Freedom kit.  The colors were perfect for my pics and the elements and papers complimented them perfectly.

I’ve gotten a little bogged down on getting the store open, but if we don’t lose electricity, I’ll be working on it this weekend and will be up and running next week.  I’m still trying to figure out a coupon problem and haven’t been able to find the answer to my specific problem.  I’m going to go surfing for it and if I don’t find the answer, I’ll just open the store any way.

Stay safe and dry wherever you are!

Second Garden Layout

After some problems with the store that I had to get straightened out before I could finish scrapping my garden pics, I finally got it all done and it didn’t take as long as I thought. So I was able to get another layout done this morning using the Summer Garden kit from MagsGraphics. This time I used another add-on in addition to the ones I used last time. Here are the pics of the base kit and the add-on that I didn’t show you last time. Again the previews are linked directly to the product in her store.

Now, here’s my second layout using this kit and add-on. I was telling Mags that I love flowering and grassy plants and I must have passed that love on to my son since he does the gardening in the family. I think that he finds it quite relaxing!

I’m done scrapping for now so that I can focus on the store and get it up and running before I head to Michigan on the 27th! I have a lot to do before I go, both online and at home. I wanted to give you a heads up, that when the store goes live, I will be having a sale in honor of my birthday which is tomorrow (I know, shameless plug). I haven’t totally decided what, but I have something in mind. You’ll just have to wait and see!

Lilies Abound

I’ve been diligently working on my CT duties today instead of the store. But that’s ok, I need a break from figuring things out there. But it’s been slow going with the layouts. I was hoping to have 2-3 done by now but only 1 got finished. It’s the same old story -- computer issues. It seems to again be running in reverse. But at least I got one finished! And I must say that I’m happy with it.

This kit from MagsGraphics this month is her Summer Garden kit. I had some great pics of our daylilies from last year (I haven’t gotten many from this year yet, although they look beautiful!) and since I’m behind in my scrapping, I thought that this would be a great kit to use for these pics. I started with the base kit and used several of the add-ons in this layer. First, the previews of her kit and then the layout. The previews are linked to her store for ease of finding them!

My husband is the daylily fan and my son does the gardening. He really enjoys it and does a good job. I guess it sort of runs in the family. My great grandfather started a greenhouse which is still operating in full force today. My cousins own/run the greenhouse and their children work there. We get most of our flowers from them, although these lilies did not come from there. There were actually purchased whereas our flowers/plants from the greenhouse are not. We are blessed to be surrounded by God’s beauty and so inexpensively!

Have a beautiful day!

Graduation Layouts

I’ve finally got the computer back into commission, I think.  I ran into a snag yesterday and was therefore prevented from finishing and posting some graduation layouts.  But, I was able to get them done today and here I am!!

As you may recall, our son graduated from college on May 14 as valedictorian -- sorry, I just can’t help saying that!  :-)  So, of course I had to get that information onto the layouts that I did.  For these layouts I used kits from MagsGraphics as part of my CT duties this month.  I started with the School Daze Base Kit, and used parts of some of the add-ons that she has (Paper People Graduation Pack, School Toolz, Smart Cookie Graduation and Teacher Toolz add-ons).  The templates are from a new to me blog -- Tiggconns Scrap Designs.  I am lovin’ her templates!  They are clean and neat and really showcase the pictures and that’s my style!!  I have downloaded all that she has available now and will continue to do so until my external hard drive can’t hold anymore (and then I’ll probably just get another external!).

Before I post the layouts, I should say that I wasn’t able to get a whole lot of really clear photos.  I was too concerned about getting his speech on video for my parents who couldn’t attend the ceremony -- my dad was and still is recovering from back surgery.  Anyway, I was able to edit the AVI file and capture some of the pics as stills, but they don’t come out real clear then.  But they will do!

Here are my son’s graduation layouts:

GRADUATION_1_WEB

GRADUATION_2_WEB

GRADUATION_3_WEB

(I realize after looking at them that I used the same pic twice.  Oh well.)

I’m sure that I will be working on more layouts in the future.  My plan is to do a double pager with pics from the speech and the entire speech on the layout.  I have ideas floating around in my brain; we’ll see how it goes!

If you have school or graduation pics that you need to scrap, head on over to MagsGraphics and snag this great kit!  You’ll be glad that you did!

Layouts to Share

I had the privilege of working with another great kit from MagsGraphics.  This time it was Birthday Balloons.  I knew that I had birthday pics to scraps, it was just a matter of finding them.  I didn’t actually find the pics I was looking for, but I found some others that needed to be scrapped and decided to use them instead.  You can find Birthday Balloons in her store here.  I used the base kit as well as the four add-on kits that you can purchase -- party supplies, alpha, cupcakes and tall cakes.  Here are my layouts using this kit.

This birthday party was for the lady in the blue hat who had turned 90 on that day.  She is a charter member of our church and we felt the need to honor her special day!  What great fun.

I hope that you will stop by MagsGraphics and purchase this kit or one of her other fabulous kits!

Layouts using a MagsGraphics Kit

Since I’m part of Mags’ CT, our agreement is to work with a minimum of 1 kit per month.  No problem!  But since I’ll be away meeting my new great-nephews from March 11-18, I thought it best to get it done early.  So I worked on the 1st and got two layouts done.  While I was perusing her kits and deciding which one to work with, I saw the one that I ultimate chose and knew exactly what pics I would use to scrap.

The following layouts were created using Mags’ Spring Things Mega Kit and you can find it here for only $6.00!  Be sure to stop by Mags Graphics and take a look at all that she has to offer.

I used a template by Manda Girl -- she has great templates, so click on her name and head on over to see them!

 EASTER2010-B

I don’t know if I’ll be posting while I’m in Michigan.  If not and if I have permission from the parents, I’ll post some pics of the great-nephews!  In the meantime, happy scrapping!

Last of the Layouts, For Now

These two layouts are the last ones for now.  No, I haven’t run out of pics, just time to scrap!  I haven’t even begun scrapping this year’s snow pics and I took lots!!  It still amazes me that we have had snow on the ground since December 26.  One of the ladies from church who moved here in 1931 said that she has never seen a winter like this in NYC!  It’s been quite the winter so far.  Enjoy these next layouts.

Winter 3

Winter 4

These layouts were also made using my kit “Baby, It’s Cold Outside”.  You can find it here.

Hopefully, when I return from my time away this week, I’ll be ready to scrap some more.  In the meantime, take lots of pics and then head on over to my store to see what kits are available to use with your pics.

Have fun!

More Layouts

I promised you some more layouts and I aim to keep that promise. The following layouts are once again all about the snow that we have had -- I told you that all this snow and cold is making me want to scrap those pics. For these layouts, I used “Frostee” by MagsGraphics and her “Frosty Days Snowy Edges” Add-on. You can find them at her store here and here. Right now, both of those kits are on sale at 25% off. Stop by and take a look!

I will be gone most of the week and won’t have internet access. :-( But while I’m gone, I’m going to schedule a post with the rest of the winter layouts that I have done.

Have a scrappingly wonderful week!

Winter Layouts

Some of you may not know that I live in one of the five boroughs of New York City. We have been hit really hard this winter with snow. In fact, on Wednesday we were hit with two storms. Yes, you read that correctly, 2 storms. One came in the morning dropping anywhere from 4-6”. During the afternoon there was a respite. However, around 9:00 pm or so, the second storm made it’s way in. During that last storm, we received about 12” in 4-5 hours! Needless to say, we were digging out for a while.

As of that storm, we have had the snowiest January in NYC’s history and all we need is 1” more to have the snowiest month on record! Since January 1 we have received 36” of snow. You know it was pretty bad if our mayor closes the public schools and they were closed on Thursday, Jan. 27 (only the 7th time since 1978 that the public schools have been closed for snow)! My daughter’s college classes were canceled on Wednesday and Thursday and my son had one class canceled on Thursday because the professor couldn’t get in to school. My son couldn’t get in for the other class since the public buses were not running. So the four of us were snowed in on Thursday!

Anyway, all of that got me thinking that I need to do some winter layouts. So I’ve made the decision to actually make a whole book about winter in NYC. For these layouts, I’ve used my “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” kit that can be found in my store here. This kit contains 48 papers, 126 elements and a complete alphabet! All that for only $3.00!! That’s a real bargain!

Here are a couple of the layouts that I have done. The first will be the title page for my book. I’ve done the pages in chronological order starting with the first year that I have digital pics. Some years we didn’t get much snow, so I have no pics.

Winter 1

Winter 2

Those are the two that I’m going to share for now. I will be sharing the other 2 and some layouts that I did using “Frostee” from MagsGraphics at a later time.

I can’t wait to get started on this year’s snowfall, but that will have to wait just a bit. You won’t believe the pics. I used some of them in the layouts I did for Mags, and she was quite surprised by all the snow!

Stay tuned and stay warm!

I’m a CT Member for MagsGraphics!

Earlier this month, Mags sent out a request for a few people to make a couple of layouts using one of her kits.  I applied for the job and was accepted.  To my surprise, I also got  an unsolicited invitation to be on her CT for the next year.  Needless to say, I’m very excited!  You can check out her blog here and her store here.

Here are the layouts that I have done using Chocolate Cherry by MagsGraphics.  The first one is a layout using pics of the flowers that my dh sent me “just because” and the second is of my beautiful daughter and her boyfriend.  Each of these layouts is linked to MagsGraphics store.

Each of these layouts were made using Scrapbook Max!  I just love that software for quick layouts!  It’s super easy to use!!  If you haven’t tried the software, click on the banner above or below for a FREE 30 day trial.

If you plan on purchasing the software, be sure to do that from my blog.  I’m an affiliate with the company and will benefit from your purchase.  That will enable me to add to my computer fund so that I can produce more freebies and kits for purchase.
