Some of you may not know that I live in one of the five boroughs of New York City. We have been hit really hard this winter with snow. In fact, on Wednesday we were hit with two storms. Yes, you read that correctly, 2 storms. One came in the morning dropping anywhere from 4-6”. During the afternoon there was a respite. However, around 9:00 pm or so, the second storm made it’s way in. During that last storm, we received about 12” in 4-5 hours! Needless to say, we were digging out for a while.
As of that storm, we have had the snowiest January in NYC’s history and all we need is 1” more to have the snowiest month on record! Since January 1 we have received 36” of snow. You know it was pretty bad if our mayor closes the public schools and they were closed on Thursday, Jan. 27 (only the 7th time since 1978 that the public schools have been closed for snow)! My daughter’s college classes were canceled on Wednesday and Thursday and my son had one class canceled on Thursday because the professor couldn’t get in to school. My son couldn’t get in for the other class since the public buses were not running. So the four of us were snowed in on Thursday!
Anyway, all of that got me thinking that I need to do some winter layouts. So I’ve made the decision to actually make a whole book about winter in NYC. For these layouts, I’ve used my “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” kit that can be found in my store here. This kit contains 48 papers, 126 elements and a complete alphabet! All that for only $3.00!! That’s a real bargain!
Here are a couple of the layouts that I have done. The first will be the title page for my book. I’ve done the pages in chronological order starting with the first year that I have digital pics. Some years we didn’t get much snow, so I have no pics.
Those are the two that I’m going to share for now. I will be sharing the other 2 and some layouts that I did using “Frostee” from MagsGraphics at a later time.
I can’t wait to get started on this year’s snowfall, but that will have to wait just a bit. You won’t believe the pics. I used some of them in the layouts I did for Mags, and she was quite surprised by all the snow!
Stay tuned and stay warm!
Blessings,
